Overview

For nearly 100 years, Interstate + Lakeland Lumber (IL) has been committed to providing quality services and materials to the finest homebuilders in New York and Connecticut.  IL is seeking an ambitious and self-motivated individual to continue this rich and vibrant tradition as a Millwork Salesperson.

 

Utilizing knowledge and experience of the Manhattan/Brooklyn landscape, the Millwork Salesperson will market and sell architectural moulding, TruStile pre-hung doors, and architectural hardware to the architects, designers and builders in the luxury residential segment.  Ideal candidates will have a track record of proven success selling a design-oriented product to architects, interior designers and builders.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

Some of the things you will do to be successful:

 

  • Regularly call on Residential Architects, Interior Designers and Custom Design Build Firms in Manhattan and Brooklyn
  • Become an expert on IL’s line of architectural mouldings, TruStile doors, and architectural hardware
  • Identify, track and follow up on specific project opportunities - starting with the architectural specification stage and ending with a completed sale
  • Conduct product knowledge and continuing education seminars with target architect and interior design firms, and professional organizations
  • Routinely review trade journals and attend industry-specific training to stay current on product knowledge and industry trends
  • Maintain an effective home office while working independently and pro-actively
  • Use expenses responsibly to increase awareness of IL offerings and build relationships
  • Report on sales calls and projects sales a regular and disciplined basis

Qualifications

Some of the qualifications we are looking for:

 

  • 3 - 5 years of experience selling an architectural or design oriented product to the architect and design community
  • Residential door/hardware and custom millwork product knowledge is strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel throughout the region on a daily basis
  • Desire to become a product expert and ability to use that expertise within a sales role
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and blue prints
  • Strong written communication, verbal communication and presentational skills
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, internet, proprietary tools)
  • Proven ability to self motivate, and achieve personal and established goals
  • Something special that sets you apart from other salespeople
